FOREVER 27

With the death of Amy Winehouse on the 23rd July comes a new addition to the 27 Club, also known as 'Forever 27' or 'Club 27'. The club is a group of influential musicians who all died at the age of 27, many through mysterious circumstances. I've mentioned how my blog's been sucking loads and I haven't been doing much drawing or writing, but I finally got round to sorting that out and did some drawings of the 27 Club, and I have some short stories to post too once I've finished them all. Also these drawings looked lots classier when they were just pencil drawings but I reckon these are more interesting and less morbid.

BRIAN JONES



'Rolling Stones founder and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist. Official cause of death: Drowned in a swimming pool. The coroner's report stated "death by misadventure".'

JIMI HENDRIX



'Pioneering electric guitarist, singer and songwriter for The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys. Official cause of death: Autopsy showed he asphyxiated on vomit after combining sleeping pills with wine.'

JANIS JOPLIN



'Lead vocalist and songwriter for Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Kozmic Blues Band and Full Tilt Boogie Band. Official cause of death: Probable heroin overdose.'

JIM MORRISON



'Lead singer, songwriter and video director for The Doors. Official cause of death: Cause of death listed as "heart failure"; however, no autopsy was performed.'

KURT COBAIN



'Founding member, lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for Nirvana. Official cause of death: Ruled as suicide by shotgun.'

AMY WINEHOUSE



'British singer/songwriter. Official cause of death: To be determined.'

Also there's a whole list of others on the Wikipedia page I've cited most of the information from, however some I wanted to give a special mention to were Jean Michel Basquiat, Kristen Pfaff and although only officially announced dead in November 2008, Richey Edwards who, if you've read this blog for ages (pfft) you'll know I adore. So here is a shit rushed painting of him done out of love.
